Dancer, choreographer and visual artist, Manuel Rodríguez’ work is focused on dance and visual arts with special emphasis on the creative process.
Screensaver, Manuel Rodríguez‘s multidisciplinary project, is being presented at Kubo Baltza jointly with Dantzaldia, the International Dance Festival organised by La Fundición. Screensaver delves into the concept of contemplation, how the visual act, via the sensorial, the symbol and the shape, can become an act of faith.
The choreographic installation comprises a performance and photographic
series made up of various visual materials generated during the creative
process of the piece. This project, internationally recognised with multiple
awards, attempts to delve into how contemplation is related to human
consciousness, and how the visual act becomes an act of faith through the
sensorial, the symbol and the shape.
Through this piece, Manuel Rodríguez endeavours to relate something as
natural as a human being with a totally artificial element like computer software.
The body acts as a screensaver which is activated to move towards a new
cognitive plane projected towards the infinite. This body-screen is
superimposed on the landscape and guides us like a host, envisioning itself in
the search for balance and harmony.
