Javier Arbizu. Talud mediodía

Abstract

En el marco del programa <i><b>Komisario Berriak</b></i>, impulsado por el Departamento de Cultura y Política Lingüística del Gobierno Vasco, el trabajo de Arbizu parte del desmantelamiento de un lugar icónico en Bilbao, el parque de atracciones de Artxanda, de donde rescata las imágenes de “talud” y “mediodía” para, desde lo escultórico y lo performativo, tratar las ideas de continuidad y simultaneidad. Un lugar (el talud, la inclinación que se da a las tierras para que se sostengan las unas a las otras) y un momento (el mediodía, cuando el sol está a mayor altura en el firmamento, marcando su ascenso y descenso respecto a la línea del horizonte y dividiendo el día en dos) serán las imágenes de partida para comenzar una deriva en la que se explorarán la forma de adaptar las propuestas de Pacomio y Bestué al contexto de Azkuna Zentroa. <i>"Mi papel como comisario será el de escuchar, cuidar e intentar entender a los artistas desde sus prácticas. Acompañar una exposición que irá tomando forma en el hacer, en el pensar dando pasos cortos. En la confianza entre artistas, comisario e institución y en el estar juntos, simplemente"</i>, propone el comisario, Javier Arbizu.

Eusko Jaurlaritzako Kultura eta Hizkuntza Politika Sailak bultzatutako <i><b>Komisario Berriak</b></i> programaren esparruan, Arbizuren lanak Bilboko toki ikoniko bat desegiteko prozesua du abiaburu: Artxandako jolas-parkearena. Hortik, “ezpondaren” eta “eguerdiaren” irudiak erreskatatzen ditu, eskulturatik eta performaziotik jarraitasunaren eta aldiberekotasunaren ideiak jorratzeko. Leku bat (ezponda, lurrei elkarri eusteko ematen zaien inklinazioa) eta une bat (eguerdia, eguzkia zeruan gorago dagoenean, zerumugaren lerroarekiko igoera eta jaitsiera markatuz eta eguna bitan banatuz) izango dira deribari ekiteko hasierako irudiak, eta deriban Pacomio eta Bestuéren proposamenak Azkuna Zentrora egokitzeko modua aztertuko da. <i>"Komisario gisa nire zeregina izango da artistak entzutea, zaintzea, eta beren praktiketatik ulertzen saiatzea. As part of the <i><b>Komisario Berriak</b></i> programme driven by the Basque Government Culture and Linguistic Policy Department, Arbizu’s work begins with the dismantling of an iconic place in Bilbao, namely the Amusement Park of Artxanda, thus recovering the images of ‘slope’ and ‘midday’ to deal with the ideas of continuity and simultaneity from a sculptural and performative perspective. A place (slope, an inclination applied to lands so they support each other) and a moment in time (midday, when the sun is at its highest in the sky, marking its ascent and descent in relation to the horizon dividing the day into two), are the initial images to start drifting and exploring how to adapt Pacomio and Bestué’s proposals to the Azkuna Zentroa context. According to curator Javier Arbizu: <i>"My role as a curator will be: listening to, accompanying, looking after and endeavouring to understand the artists from the perspectives of their practices. To accompany an exhibition as it takes shape, in the way it’s done and thinking but taking small steps. In the confidence among artists, curator and institution; and just simply being together"</i>
