Artist Ander Pérez presents his research on movement and recording qualities which he began this year as part of the Azkuna Zentro’s "Babestu. Creation Support Programme".
Description:
The artist proposed Nimble and a tackle to create objects for recordings. Nevertheless, he explained that: “the objects have been occupying a more peripheral location so I don’t just stick with most superficial and mechanical aspect of the process.” To which he added: “My intuition was correct, as the creation of a moving image continues to have an attraction for me. I find it to be on a par with music since they both occur in direct feedback between action and result.”
Thus, Nimble and a tackle has become the starting point of the research process “which doesn’t finish with the exhibition in September”, in fact, this project for Ander Pérez has meant “a very strong starting point with several lines of work which have started taking shape in recent months, so the title Nimble and a tackle doesn’t exactly correspond to any of them.”
In other words, the project evolution may reach the research title. According to the artist: “The closest I can get right now is The entertaining performer of droll songs, a description which appeared in contemporary texts of St. Francis of Assisi referring to his pre-monastic life as that of a poor quality troubadour; a moving person who can do anything as an amateur.”
During the Open Day for Artistic Creation, Ander Pérez will share part of the process that has carried out as a resident of Babestu. Creation support programe. Thus, based on the materials that have emerged during his residency, the artist will present, not that much of the process that culminates in the exhibition that takes place in Sala Fernádez del Campo, located in the Atrio de las Culturas, but his way of working in and deal with the materials.
