Summary:

Virginia Woolf states that «a scene, an emotion, produces a wave in the mind, long before the words appear to interpret it; and when writing them [...] one must resume all that and work it, and then, when the wave breaks and settles in the mind, makes the words begin to fit».
With this image of a wave that advances, before whose rhythm and cadence can only be adapted, when what is sought is to relate what happened, Isabel de Naverán summons several authors to reflect together on writing as a material practice. The wave in the mind gathers the observation of Woolf (appeared in a letter sent in March 1926 to the writer, and her lover, Vita Sackeville-West) to establish correspondences with Lorea Alfaro, Marie Bardet, María García Ruiz, Raquel G. Ibáñez and Andrea Soto Calderón.
This book gathers a polyphony of texts that navigate between the essay and the literary story. He proposes thinking of writing as a place of crossover between different voices to highlight other questions about how what affects us -a scene, an emotion, following Woolf- tenses the relations between work and life and how some gestures take on a new form in their direct encounter with the limit of language.
