Abstract

En los años veinte del siglo pasado, durante su última década antes de la irrupción del cine sonoro, el cine mudo vivió un periodo de extraordinario esplendor artístico. las películas de aquella época de autores como Lang, Muenau, Lubitsch, Stroheim, Eisenstein, Vidor, etc. son obras de primer rango dentro de la historia del cine. En esos años, la comedia cómica americana vivió también una época dorada en la que destacó como ídolo indiscutible de crítica y público la genial figura de Charles Chaplin y solamente otro artista fue capaz de situarse a su nivel, <b>Buster Keaton</b>.<br> Hace tiempo que no se han visto las películas de Buster Keaton en esta ciudad, seguramente hay que remontarse a la primavera de 1982, en la que en el Teatro Campos se proyectó un ciclo dedicado a su obra. La Zinemateka nos ofrece ahora la oportunidad de disfrutar y admirar en proyección cinematográfica los filmes, siempre actuales, de este gran artista del siglo XX, el siglo del cine.

During those years, American comedy also experienced a golden age in which the brilliant figure of Charles Chaplin stood out as the undisputed idol of critics and audiences alike, and only one other artist was able to match his level of success: <b>Buster Keaton</b>.<br>

It has been a long time since Buster Keaton's films have been seen in this city, probably since the spring of 1982, when the Teatro Campos screened a series dedicated to his work. The Zinemateka now offers us the opportunity to enjoy and admire the timeless films of this great artist of the 20th century, the century of cinema.
