Holder of a degree in Basque Philology, Miren Billelabeitia has taught World Literature and Basque Language and Literature at the Mungia secondary school. She has studied the teaching of reading and reflected on practices aimed at promoting reading.
She has given lectures and training sessions at regional berritzegunes (teacher training and support centres) and various schools. Likewise, she has taught summer courses on literary education and the promotion of reading through literary discussions at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). She has translated several books into Basque and has also written academic articles. Among her published works are Euskal literaturaren historia (2003), Esquemas de euskera (2001), and Lauaxeta. Oihartzunak (2008), an anthology of the Basque poet Esteban Urkiaga, Lauaxeta. AITITA-amamen guda zibila (2019) was published as part of a reading-writing project with students from IES Mungia. Her 2022 essay, Norberak maite duena, which will soon be published in Spanish by Consonni, won the 2023 Euskadi Prize for Literature in the essay category.
