Nerea Diaz holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising and Public Relations and a Master's Degree in Innovation and Knowledge Management. She is the director of Espacio Open, an ecosystem of creative and social projects with a positive social impact located since 2009 in the former biscuit factory of Bilbao (Artiach Factory), in the neighbourhood of La Ribera de Deusto/Zorrotzaurre.
They work on the intersection between contemporary culture, technology and social issues. They believe in positive social change and the construction of a city from the grassroots up. Home to the Fab Lab Bilbao centre for digital creation and production, they foster creation, training and dissemination programmes such as the Bilbao Maker Faire Festival and creative residencies for artists and designers. They collaborate in European projects such as T-Factor, Eureka and Distributed Design. They founded the circular economy market Open Your Ganbara, which began in 2009 and has evolved into Vintage Bilbao.
