Summary:

In this masterclass, Hélène Vignal will discuss how she wrote her book Queen Kong and how it was publicly received following publication.
This book was published by a committed publisher as part of a collection tackling issues around sexuality. Vignal will reflect on the events of the summer of 2023, when a book from this collection was censored by the French Ministry of the Interior, which raised the legal age for people reading the book from 15 to 18.
The writer Hélène Vignal (Paris, 1968) specializes in literature for young people, and her works have been published in France, Italy, China, Korea, and Spain. Her literary style is one of encounters, dialogues, and confrontation between generations. She creates characters who often have to fight for their emancipation, and she dares to tackle sensitive or even taboo subjects, convinced that young readers are prepared to address any issue, and even that the role of literature is to help people live their lives.
