This podcast is a journey through the sounds that accompany the exhibition titled “Science Friction. Life Among Companion Species”. It takes us through the forests of the Navarre Pyrenees and the livestock farming valleys of Biscay, the Mediterranean coastline and the urban fields where transhumance is still practiced. On the way we encounter pine trees, herds, beehives and beetles; hop flowers, rye fields and colonial palm trees; electric fish and hallucinogenic mushrooms. It is a soundtrack made up of many kinds of encounters between species that share the same ecosystems, whether they know it or not.
E01. “Entre árboles” (Between tress)
With Maddi Barber, Marina Lameiro and Paula Bruna. In this first episode, we talk to Maddi Barber and Marina Lameiro, directors of the film Paradise, which takes place in the forests of Lakabe in the Navarre Pyrenees.
E02. “La ruta de las vedijas” (The Route of the Tufts of Wool)
With Susana Jiménez Carmona, la oveja Bea, Mutur Beltz and Onintza Etxebeste. In the previous episode we approached the feeling of a forest that is going to be cut down to recover the old pastures.
E03. “No solo flores” (Not only Flowers)
With Susana Cámara Leret, Rafa Martínez del Pozo, las lupuleras de Gavilanes and Benavides de Órbigo y Zuhari. In the previous chapter we talked about wool, how it has ceased to be a valuable material to become waste. Today we return to this idea of residue, in this case in relation to hop plants from which only the flower is used.
