In "La Memoria del Cuerpo: Formas en el Espacio-Tiempo" (The Body’s Memory: Shapes in Time and Space)" , Roberto Menéndez takes us on a journey through Spanish contemporary dance with five National Dance Award winners: Daniel Abreu, Chevi Muraday (Losdedae), Jon Maya Sein (Kukai Dantza), Sol Picó and Carmen Werner (Provisional Danza). This documentary, which will be screened at Azkuna Zentroa - Alhondiga Bilbao, reflects on the motivations that drive them to take to the stage year after year, decade after decade.
Description:
"La Memoria del Cuerpo: Formas en el Espacio-Tiempo" (The Body’s Memory: Shapes in Time and Space)" is an essentially visual project, free of philosophical and historical dissertations, in which the images take centre stage, the movements and the daily lives of its protagonists: what it is like to be a dancer or choreographer, how they prepare, how they create their choreographies, how they remember so many movements from so many shows, how they survive as part of a company involved in something as unknown to the general public as contemporary dance.
A magical original soundtrack created by international composer Isa Suarez accompanies and frames the movements of these dancers and choreographers. They can also be seen in their shows, each with their own characteristic style, whose specific qualities are unravelled throughout the documentary. The shows are: Perro, by Daniel Abreu; Oskara, by Kukai Dantza; One-hit wonders, by Sol Picó; Black Apple, by Losdedae, and Una mirada sutil, by Provisional Danza.
