Zubizarreta, Patxi (1964- )
A graduate in Basque Philology, he chiefly produces literature for children and young adults although he also writes novels for adults. Some of his books have been translated into Catalan, Galician and Spanish, among other languages. He has received several awards, namely the Lizardi Award for children and young adult literature in Basque for “Matias Ploffen erabakiak” (Erein) in 1991, and for “Zerria” (Erein) in 2021; Baporea Award for children’s narrative in Basque for “1948ko uda” (SM) in 1993; A.M. Labaien Award for young adult short stories in Basque for “Eztia eta ozpina” (Alberdania) in 1997; Euskadi Award for “Gizon izandako mutila” (Pamiela) in 1997 and for Pantaleon Badoa (Pamiela) in 2006; Ala Delta Award for Children’s Literature for “Xia Tenzinen bidaia miresgarria” (Ibaizabal Argitaletxea) in 2009; and the National Award for Children and Young Adult Literature for “Zerria” (Erein, 2022) in 2023. He has also received the Ciudad San Sebastian Kutxa Theatre Award for “Ohe deseginak” in 2008.
