Valcárcel Medina, Isidoro (1937- )
Isidoro Valcárcel Medina (Murcia, 1937) -National Prize for Plastic Arts in 2007, Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts in 2014 and Premio Velázquez 2015- is an artist with a long career in what we vaguely call conceptualism.

His work involves a committed attitude far from the commercial aspects of art, so it can hardly be located in the usual exhibition spaces and contexts. He has developed a body of work based on a critical investigation of the notions and conventions of the art system and the relationships between art and people. For almost 50 years, his work has evolved into a dematerialization that favors not so much the objectification of art as his experience, which highlights the interest of the artist to interrelate life and art. Not in vain, many of his proposals have fled institutionalized spaces and have generated into everyday experiential situations that thus determine that many of his works have to be experienced live, without the possibility of repetition. For that reason as well, his artistic practice propitiates a critical and wayward reflection of the reality in which it is circumscribed.
