Marie-Josèphe Bonnet has a Ph.D. in
history (Paris VII University), and is an art
historian writer and lecturer. In the 70s,
she took part in the Women’s Liberation
Movement and in the group of women
artists ‘La Spirale’, founded by the painter
and poetess Charlotte Calmis.
She has published a dozen books
and numerous articles in the journals:
Les Temps Modernes, Esprit, L’Histoire,
La Revue d’Histoire Moderne et
Contemporaine, etc. Worthy of mention
in the artistic field is: Les Deux Amies, an
essay on female couples in art (2000), “Les
femmes dans l’art” (Publ. de La Martinière,
2004), Les femmes artistes dans les avantgardes (Publ.. Odile Jacob, 2006), Liberté,
égalité, exclusion, Femmes artistes en
révolution 1770-1804 (Publ. Vendémiaire,
2012).
Founder of the association ‘Souffles
d’Elles’ and the ‘Woman’s Café’ in the
Dome.
She is currently making a film on women
artists and a large exhibition in France.
