Andrea Fernández Plata tells stories through illustration, photography and writing.
She travelled to Berlin on a photography scholarship in 2010 and was nominated for the Injuve Illustration awards. She returned to her island in 2012 and turned her grandparents’ storeroom for fishing gear into La Platanera, a place where she holds workshops and artistic residencies. In 2021 she discovered loads of living writers who fascinated her. Something was unravelled inside of her and she began writing. Her first novel, “Jarroa”, was published by Sabina Urraca as part of the “Caballo de Troya” collection in March 2024.
