Amelia Valcárcel is Senior Lecturer in
Moral and Political Philosophy at the Spanish Distance Learning University (UNED),
Elective Member of the Council of State,
Vice President of the Royal Board of Trustees of the El Prado Museum and Trustee
of the IUMP. Author of some twenty books,
seventy chapters in collective works and
over a hundred articles. Her most recent
works are ’Hablemos de Dios’ (2007), in collaboration with Victoria Camps; ’Feminismo en el mundo global’ (2008, 2009, 2010)
and her latest publication is ’La Memoria y
el Perdón’ (Herder 2010).
She is director or a member of ten research
projects and she is currently directing the
research project entitled ’Ética, religión: El
papel de los principios en las sociedades
tradicionales y en las democracias complejas’ (Ethics, religion: The role of principles in traditional societies and in complex
democracies). She is on numerous boards,
she has chaired and directed courses and
seminars at home and abroad and collaborated in doctoral programmes in Spanish and Spanish-American universities.
She has been Head of the Department of
Education and Culture of the Regional Government of Asturias, and a participant in
the Declaration of Human Responsibilities
and Duties and mentioned in dictionaries
of philosophy and public personalities. She
has received numerous awards and several books have been dedicated to her.
