Maite Garbayo Maeztu is a researcher and art critic. She holds a Bachelor’s
degree in History of Art from the University
of the Basque Country and a Master’s
degree in Visual Arts from the National
Autonomous University of Mexico. As an
art critic, she is a regular collaborator of
A*DESK and the author of a number of
texts in catalogues and monographs. Since
finishing her first degree, she has specialised in feminist critical theory and combines
her work as a researcher with lecturing
and art eduction. In 2009 she presented the University of the Basque Country
Diploma in Advanced Studies under the
title ’Artes y feminismos: una aproximación a las prácticas artísticas en el Estado
español’ (’Arts and feminisms: An overview
of the artistic practices in Spain’). She is
currently preparing her doctoral thesis,
in which she explores the relationships
between feminist theories and performing
practices.
