Seville, 1977. Maia Villot de Diego is an artist, bookseller and curator, among other things. She lives in Bilbao. She became interested in the performing arts and began her training in theatre, dance, choreography and performance while studying Fine Art at the University of the Basque Country, where she specialised in sculpture. In 2004, she began to work on collective creations with other artists involved in performance.
Working individually, she has created the performances Las que son O-Diosas, Play-Back en Directo, Échale la culpa I, II and III, Lectura I and II and BIDIMENSIONAL. She has presented her work in Pamplona (Festival Inmediaciones, Nivel F and the Museum of Navarre), Bilbao (BAD Festival, Zarata Fest and La Cosa en Casa), Donostia (Tabakalera), Barcelona (La Estrategia Domestica) and Madrid (Teatro Pradillo and Zarata Fest).
Together with Isaak Erdoiza she organises La Cosa en Casa, a meeting in which artists from different disciplines are invited to show their work in domestic contexts.
For the last three years she has curated the cycle Tabakalera Taulara, a summer programme linked to performance and the performing arts, which takes place on the rooftop terrace of Tabakalera (Donostia).
