As part of the 1:1 Scale exhibition, the discussion titled "Learning from Lemoiz: Political, Photographic and Post-conflict Contamination" offers a space to put into words everything that Ixone Sádaba has observed in the course of her photographic research.
Carles Guerra, the curator of the exhibition, provides context for this event, noting that “today, with access to the power plant still restricted and vegetation reclaiming the site, Lemoiz stands as a case of historical memory that has left in its wake the complex task of managing the ruins.”
The event will feature the artist and curator, who will be joined by Iñaki Martínez de Albéniz (sociologist, UPV) and Julia Schulz-Dornburg (architect, researcher, and photographer) to explore the ramifications of Sádaba’s work. According to Carles Guerra, her work “is not only a testament to one of the most controversial objects in the history of the Basque conflict but also bears witness to the wounds this history has inflicted, particularly on the body of photography itself.”
