Each year this International Festival, the city’s longest-standing, forges a bridge between those who write and those who read, turning reading and literature – traditionally an intimate experience – into a shared cultural encounter.
Gutun Zuria Bilbao foregrounds the value of written heritage while simultaneously inviting audiences to explore new narrative forms, whether digital or hybrid. Literature is in a constant state of renewal, and this Festival provides the space in which to discover it. Audiences attend this gathering to engage with their reference authors, but also to encounter and come into close contact with emerging voices and the diversity of contemporary narrative practices. Above all, they come to take part in the conversation about the world we inhabit, a dialogue that unfolds anew every year. Description: Este año, el Festival parte de la convicción de que la literatura más futurista no es aquella que se escribe “sobre” el porvenir, sino “desde” este. La literatura que da por sentado que el futuro está teniendo lugar hoy mismo, cargando sus sueños y pesadillas sobre nuestro presente cotidiano. La que se avanza a su tiempo y la que regresa al pasado en busca de respuestas para nuestros asuntos de hoy.
De esa dimensión trata nuestra edición de este año. Un encuentro que asume la crítica y, al mismo tiempo, se niega a refugiarse exclusivamente en la catarsis. Nos guía la convicción de que el desasosiego contemporáneo no solo debe llevarnos a la queja, sino también a la proposición. En Gutun Zuria Bilbao seguimos defendiendo que el optimismo y lo óptimo están unidos por algo más que una raíz semántica común.
Como Festival, seguimos combinando la escritura con otras artes, la excelencia con la celebración. Compartimos el contenido de lo escrito y la hechura formal de los libros. Explorando su ubicuidad y sus mutaciones, sus peligros y su inmortalidad. En esta primera edición los encuentros se celebran bajo el título "Cómo afronta el mundo editorial los retos de las nuevas tecnologías". Más de una veintena de expertos y expertas en lingüística, edición, distribución y comunicación editorial, propondrán reflexiones y debates sobre los desafíos que plantea la innovación tecnológica en la industria del libro. Este análisis de cómo el mundo editorial hace frente a los nuevos retos tecnológicos se articula a través de tres mesas, con traducción simultánea a euskera, de experiencias cada jornada.

La primera jornada estará dinamizada por Óscar López, periodista especializado en el sector cultural. La segunda jornada estará dinamizada por Jorge Carrión, escritor, crítico cultural y codirector del Máster en Creación Literaria de la Universidad Pompeu Fabra de Barcelona.

Lehen edizio honetan, topaketen izenburua izango da “Nola egiten dieten aurre argitaletxeek teknologia berrien erronkei”. Berrikuntzan, hizkuntzalaritzan, edizioan, banaketan eta komunikazio editorialean aditu diren hogeitik gora lagunek adimen artifiziala bezalako garapenen erabilerak planteatzen dituen erronkei buruzko hausnarketak eta eztabaidak proposatuko dituzte. Argitaletxeen munduak erronka teknologiko berriei nola egiten dien aurre aztertzeko, hiru esperientzia-mahai, izango dira jardunaldi bakoitzean. Mahaietan aldi bereko itzulpena dago euskarara.

Lehen jardunaldia Óscar Lópezek dinamizatuko du, kulturaren sektorean espezializatutako kazetaria. Bigarren jardunaldia Jorge Carriónek dinamizatuko du, idazle, kultur kritikari eta Bartzelonako Pompeu Fabra Unibertsitateko Literatur Sorkuntzako Masterraren zuzendaria.

In this first edition, the meetings will be held under the title “How the publishing world faces the challenges of new technologies”. More than twenty experts in innovation, linguistics, publishing, distribution and editorial communication will offer reflections and debates on the challenges posed by the use of developments such as artificial intelligence. The debates have simultaneous translation into Basque.

The first day will be led by Óscar López, a journalist specialized in the cultural sector. The second day will be led by Jorge Carrión, writer, cultural critic and co-director of the Master in Literary Creation at the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona.
