Josune Urrutia (Bilbao, 1976), bachelor of Fine Arts (2000) from the UPV/EHU and Illustration Technician from the School ArteDiez in Madrid (2013). She has been trained in parallel illustration, illustrated album and comic with authors such as Paco Roca, Frederik Peeters, MAX (Francesc Capdevila), Toni Guiral, Pepe Gálvez, Katsumi Komagata, Martin Salisbury, Sophie Blackall, Pablo Auladell, Isol, Elena Odriozola, Raúl Arias and Javier Sáez Castán, among others.
As an artist, illustrator and sketch artist, she is especially interested in processes and tools that require drawing as an essential means of communication and socialization, such as Graphic Recording, Graphic Medicine in the healthcare world or collective drawing processes.
She has recently received a Grant for Graphic Creation: Comics and Graphic Novels (2020) from the Basque Government. She received an Honorable Mention for Graphic Novel Residence, Maison des Auteurs Angoulême Francia from Acción Cultural Español (AC/E) and La Cité internationale de la bande dessinée et de l’image (2018), and received a scholarship as a resident at Maison des auteurs de Angoulême (2019-2020) for the project Hoy no es el día.
