Art historian, academic and curator. She
currently imparts classes in the Theory of
Arts Department at the Art Faculty of Chile
University; History Department, Santiago
University; and Faculty of Cultural Heritage
Studies, SEK University.
She directed the Third Encounter of
the History of Art in Chile (Theory of Arts
Department, Art Faculty, Chile University,
2005), and co-ordinated in Santiago the
programme 9 curators discussing their
work organised by Gerardo Mosquera for
the Spanish Cultural Centre in Buenos
Aires / Santiago.
Among her curatorships the following
stand out: Handle with care. Mujeres
artistas en Chile 1995 – 2005 (Museum of
Contemporary Art, edificio Quinta Normal
2007) together with Ana María Saavedra
and Yenniferth Becerra, Esto no es una
exposición de género for the Spanish
Cultural Centre (2008); Archivos en tensión
(Museum of Contemporary Art, 2011);
New Maternalism. Maternidades y nuevos
feminismos together with Natalie Loveless
(Canada) (Museum of Contemporary Art,
2014). In addition, Novoa was curator of
the National Museum of Fine Arts (2010
– 2013) where she organised different
exhibitions and as part of its management,
she organised and directed the History of
Art and Feminism Seminar, which had two
occasions (2012 and 2013), editing the
Seminario Historia del Arte y Feminismo:
relatos, lecturas, escrituras, omisiones
(NMFA, October 2013) and Seminario
Historia del Arte y Feminismo. Del discurso
a la exhibición (NMFA, October 2014).
