Esther Pizarro was born in Madrid in 1967. She graduated in Fine Arts from the Sculpture Department of the Complutense University of Madrid in 1990, where she obtained a Doctoral degree in 1995. Her training is completed thanks to different scholarships that allow her travel abroad, including: Artistic Creation Grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation in New York; Help for the production of Plastic Arts in the Community of Madrid; Plastic Arts Grant from the Casa de Velázquez, Madrid; Generation 2000 Grant, Caja de Madrid; Plastic Arts Grant from the Spanish Academy in Rome; Plastic Arts Scholarship from the Colegio de España in Paris; Predoctoral Scholarship for Research Personnel Training at the Complutense University of Madrid. Between 1996 and 1997, he lived in the United States with a scholarship from the Fulbright Commission and the Ministry of Education and Culture.
She has received different awards and second prize among which it is worth highlighting: Buitblanc Award 2019-2020, Contemporary Culture Las Cigarreras, Alicante; VISIBLES 2018 Award, Contest of Art and Women Regional Center for Humanities Cardenal Gonzaga Sierra Norte, CCHSN, Community of Madrid; Antón Grant for Sculpture Creation and Research 2017; Project awarded in the XX Call for Aid for Visual Creation Proposals 2016, VEGAP Assistance and Cultural Fund; Acquisition Prize XVII Contest of Plastic Arts Sala El Brocense, Provincial Council of Cáceres; Acquisition Prize IV International Biennial of Plastic Arts Ciudad de Alcorcón, modality: urban sculpture; realization of artistic intervention project entitled "Postal Codes"; First Prize Plaza de las Libertad / es, international competition of ideas for the planning and construction of a space for freedom in Seville, MGM Morales + Giles Arquitectos, in collaboration with Esther Pizarro and Hackitectura.net; The Critical Eye Award from Radio Nacional de España in the Visual Arts category; Pámpana de Oro Award at the LXI National Exhibition of Plastic Arts of Valdepeñas in Ciudad Real; Finalist in the Mariano Benlliure 2000 Sculpture Prize at the Villa de Madrid Awards and Second Prize at the XXII Caja Madrid National Sculpture Contest.
