How can you live knowing that those valleys, towns and houses which were once shelter and a reference are now submerged below water?
In an attempt to respond to this question, filmmaker Maddi Barber has produced a film diptych comprising the 592 “metroz goiti” and “Urpean Lurra” films about the Itoiz reservoir. Furthermore, María Ángeles Fernández and Jairo Marcos, through their book “Memorias ahogadas”, which provides the title for this discussion table, will talk about the lives and history of those who had to leave their towns, lands, homes, tasks, roots and ways of life, even their deceased, due to the construction of a reservoir. This 3-way conversation will address silences, lost rights and drowned stories, and delve into memory.
