Maia Villot. AMA preludio [performance]

Abstract

<p><i>AMA preludio</i>, continúa la investigación que Maia Villot ha desarrollado en los últimos años acerca de las representaciones patriarcales de mujeres poderosas.<br>Algo que ya estaba presente en uno de sus primeros trabajos, la serie de performance “Échale la culpa”, dónde exploraba cómo el estereotipo de la “femme fatale” se asocia en la cultura popular a las catástrofes naturales. Posteriormente, en “Witches-Bitches Bitches-Witches” se aproximó a la figura de las brujas produciendo una serie de imágenes que juegan con los clichés asociados a las brujas (la nocturnidad, los conjuros, los amuletos, las uñas largas, etc.) sometiéndolos a un código visual ajeno al imaginario convencional asociado a las brujas.<br>En este caso, <i>AMA preludio</i> es un primer acercamiento a la figura de la dominatrix. Es la primera parte de un proyecto mayor en el cual continúa con la misma línea de investigación, esta vez dirigida al imaginario asociado a la dominatrix. "Partiendo nuevamente de imágenes estereotipadas asociadas a la imagen de la dominatrix, para desde ahí generar imágenes que abran posibilidades, desvelando cosas que ya están, a las que quizás no les prestamos atención. Proponiendo otras maneras de mirar y otro tempo", explica la artista.</p>

Geroago, “Witches-Bitches Bitches-Witches” lanean, sorginen irudira hurbildu zen, eta sorginei lotutako klixeekin jolasten duten irudi batzuk sortu zituen (gauekotasuna, araoak, kutunak, azkazal luzeak, etab.), eta sorginei lotutako iruditeria konbentzionaletik kanpoko kode bisual baten pean jarri zituen.<br>Kasu honetan, <i>AMA preludio</i> lana dominatrix figurara egindako lehen hurbilketa da. Proiektu handiago baten lehen zatia da, zeina ikerketa-ildo beretik doan, oraingoan dominatrixari lotutako iruditeriara zuzenduta. “Berriz dominatrixaren irudiari lotutako irudi estereotipatuetatik abiatu gara, hortik aukerak irekiko dituzten irudiak sortzeko, dagoeneko badauden gauzak azalduz, nahiz eta agian arreta handirik ez jarri haietan. Begiratzeko beste modu batzuk eta beste tempo bat proposatzen ditugu”, azaldu du artistak.</p>

<p><i>AMA preludio</i> continues with the research Maia Villot has been working on in recent years regarding the patriarchical representations of powerful women.<br>This subject was already present in one of her first works, namely the performance series of “Échale la culpa”, where she explored how the “femme fatale” stereotype is associated with natural catastrophes in popular culture. Subsequently, in “Witches-Bitches Bitches-Witches”, she approached the figure of witches by producing a series of images that played with clichés associated with them (night, spells, charms, long nails, etc.). The aim was to subject such clichés to a visual code unrelated to conventional imaginarium associated with witches.<br>In this case, <i>AMA prelude</i> is an initial approach to the figure of the dominatrix. It is the first part of a larger project in which she continues with the same line of research, this time addressing the imaginarium associated with the image of a dominatrix. “Based once again on the stereotype images associated with a dominatrix, new images are generated to open up possibilities and reveal things that are already there, to which we might not pay attention, thereby proposing other perspectives and a different tempo”, as explained by the artist.</p>
